The HPRP Family Collaborative is a joint effort led by Families In Transition of Santa Cruz County. This project will provide assistance to struggling families throughout Santa Cruz County in 2010 and 2011. 

Six Santa Cruz County Organizations are working together to provide temporary support for rent and support services to local families to help them through the economic crisis.

In order to be eligible for help Families must be:

  • Homeless ( in a shelter, timing out of transitional housing, fleeing domestic violence or living on the street

                                        -or-

  • At severe risk of losing their housing. For Homeless Prevention the household must have a lease in their name and an eviction notice from the landlord.

Total Current Monthly Household Income

Must Fall Under the Following Amounts

50% of Median

 Number in Household:

  1:  33,000

  2:  38,600

  3:  43,450

  4:  48,250

  5:  52,150

  6:  56,000

  7:  59,850

  8:  63,700 

                   

-and-

 

  • Have no other suitable options or resources for housing support.

 

-and-

 

  • Must be experiencing at least one of the following high risk factors:

       1.  Sudden Loss of Income

       2.  Recent Traumatic Event

       3.  Child under the age of 2

       4.  Head of Household under 25

       5.  Farmworker Family

       6.  TANF Assistance

       7.  Fleeing Domestic Violence

 

Because this assistance is temporary Families must also have a reasonable plan that will enable them to keep their housing long term.

 

Families who meet the guidelines may receive assistance with :

  • Rent to move into and stabilize housing
  • Up to six months of back rent
  • Rent to prevent eviction

Each type of assistance has specific rules and limitations on use.

 

Households who are eligible for help will receive support in developing a housing stabilization plan that may include : budgeting, linkage to resources, housing search support and related assistance as appropriate to the family situation.
